Join an IndivisibleNOCO Action Team
IndivisibleNOCO has eleven Action Teams. Each team is focused on either a specific strategic initiative or a general support function. Scroll through the descriptions below to see what each team does. If you are interested in joining an Action Team, please use this form to let us know!
Action Team #1
Win Local and County Elections
Elections for open city council, school board and county commissioner seats will be held in November 2025. We want to fill as many of those seats as possible with progressive Democratic candidates so we want to make sure a qualified Democrat is running in every race. In past elections, we have seen extreme right wing candidates running as "independent" candidates for school boards, city council and district attorney seats and we want to make sure that voters know who they are voting for. This group will focus on supporting Democratic candidates, getting out the vote and disseminating information. Any other ideas for ensuring that we win locally in 2025 are welcomed!
Action Team #2
Tie Project 2025 outcomes to Republicans
We are going to take back the House in 2026. Unfortunately, Project 2025 will have negative outcomes for a lot of people and we want to make sure that the GOP owns it. This group will join forces with other Indivisible groups in Colorado to tie the negative outcomes to Hurd (CD3), Boebert (CD4), Crank (CD5) and Evans (CD8). This group will work to tie negative outcomes to Republicans in general, including state legislators. We are playing a long game here and want to be ready to win in 2026.
Action Team #3
Engage with Senators Hickenlooper and Bennet
Colorado has two Democratic senators in Congress. They need to have our backs and we need to have theirs. We must push them to fight for our priorities and support them when they do. During the confirmation hearings, we saw them support some dangerous nominees. Hickenlooper voted for Treasury Secretary Bessent who gave the keys to the US Treasury to Elon Musk, and both he and Bennet voted for Energy Secretary Wright, a climate change denier from Colorado. Only after a public outcry did we see them join other Democratic senators in freezing senate business in protest of the Musk takeover of our government. They need to know that we are watching them and their votes. Especially Hickenlooper who is up for reelection in 2026.
Action Team #4
Engage with Colorado Attorney General, Governor, & Local District Attorney
The battle for our democracy will be in the courts. Attorney General Phil Weiser has been joining other Democratic attorneys general across the country to file lawsuits to stop unlawful executive orders. We want to make sure that he continues to fight for Colorado and protect our most vulnerable populations. Likewise for our local district attorney, Gordon McLaughlin. We will support their efforts in any way possible. At the same time, we must hold Governor Jared Polis accountable to Democratic ideals and raise the alarm when he, for example, expresses support for anti-vaxxer RFK, Jr., or government-destroying Elon Musk.
Action Team #5
Engage with Northern Colorado Democratic State Representatives and Senators
We count on our representatives to the state legislature to pass laws to protect our vulnerable and targeted populations. Examples include: sanctuary policies, legal defense funds, quality of life initiatives and environmental initiatives. We want to make sure they are focused on pushing back against Project 2025 and protecting residents and our quality of life.
Action Team #6
Engage with City Council, County Commissioners and the School Board
We want to make sure that our locally elected officials are doing what they can to protect targeted vulnerable populations. We also need to show up for them so that they hear support from progressive voices. School boards, city councils and county commissioners receive pressure from loud extreme right-wing constituent who do show up to their meetings. IndivisibleNOCO wants to make sure that progressive voices are heard as loudly as right-wing voices.
Action Team #7
Fundraising and Events
This team will focus on raising funds to support other Action Teams. They will also plan social and fundraising events.
Action Team #8
Public Relations
This team will manage public relations for IndivisibleNOCO. We often need media coverage for events to catch the attention of our elected representatives.
Action Team #9
Social Media
This team will help manage social media for IndivisibleNOCO, including creating content and graphics based in input from the other Action Teams.
10
Demonstration Planning
Planning a demonstration is not difficult, but it does take time! IndivisibleNOCO has a protest plan template that documents the steps required to organize a demonstration. This team would implement the plan when it is time to take to the streets.
11
Ad Hoc Event Planning
We will put out a request for ad hoc event planning teams when needed. Meanwhile, let us know if you have an idea for an event that will help us achieve any of the other strategic initiatives!
