2024 Ballot Measures

Watch for IndivisibleNOCO’s summary of state and local ballot measures, as well as our voting recommendations as we get closer to the election. Meanwhile, check out our explanation of amendments versus propositions and how to interpret the what the measure numbers or letters mean.

What is the difference between an Amendment and a Proposition?

An Amendment changes the State Constitution and requires 55% of the vote to pass.  The exception is if the measure repeals an existing Constitutional Amendment.  In these cases, only a simple majority is required.

A Proposition changes State Statutes and requires a simple majority to pass.  Propositions can be referred to the ballot by the State Legislature or placed on the ballot through the citizen signature process.  Propositions referred by the State Legislature are labeled with a letter and citizen-initiated propositions are labeled with a number.
