John’s Goals
- Be responsible and prudent fiscal stewards of taxpayer dollars
- Create and preserve affordable housing and prevent homelessness
- Invest in childcare and early childhood learning, and in workforce development
- Protect public health, safety, and welfare
- Increase access to broadband in underserved areas of the county
- Promote sustainable economic development as well as clean air, water, natural areas
- Convene regional public-private partnerships
- Innovate and improve our services to children, youth, families, and older adults
- Expand our community justice alternatives and diversion programs
A few of the County Commissioner Accomplishments this term
- Adopted a balanced annual budget investing in services and capital improvements
- Directed county funds to community-based behavioral health organizations
- Launched our first-ever Climate Smart Initiative to address climate change
- Adopted some of the state’s most effective oil and gas and 1041 regulations
- Promoted renewable energy, evs, and regional multi-modal transportation systems
- Invested in open space, outdoor recreation, & the preservation of working farms
- Expanded access to county services and operations through greater transparency
- Launched a new equity, diversity, and inclusion advisory board
- Executing ongoing recovery and disaster emergency preparedness
- Invested in raises for county staff including Sheriff’s Deputies to help with retention and recruitment
